Avenger of the PassIt used to be fun, because we were all united in purpose even though we were losing, absorbed in trying to do something about it no matter how hard it became. Borlis Pass lived way past its expected expiration date and survived two implosions since the fateful days when Gen. Wolfstride returned and I first took up the tag.
We stopped getting anywhere the moment the whole people was no longer determined to fight the situation as a unit no matter what happened. After linking, BP would make push after push after push to get somewhere in the world, but only when it was succeeding and not when it reversed. One of those liberation campaigns nearly succeeded, when we were momentarily carrying CD. Then it suddenly fell like a domino effect because people were no longer mentally prepared for long, drawn-out campaigns the way we used to be.
Keep this in mind when world restructuring hits and we come out of hibernation. It takes real determined focus and big audacious dreams to build and run a guild -- or an alliance, and we need to be determined to make a mark on WvW's future whether we have 3 people or 300.
Sometimes stocks can be unpredictable. The Courier has performed well on the trading post, gets new subscriptions, then the unpredictable happens. To combat this, we have a new, big, secret project in the works.
...I would advise against a rhetorical character assassination, though I can not stop you from writing freely. The hero that earned a whole server's admiration is still there somewhere beneath the trolly, angry exterior.
Last we had a serious, non-trolly conversation, when Gibbon volunteered to lead the server to victory under some very difficult conditions, I saw a flash of that old heroism that first earned my respect...
...the whirr of machinery, the shuffling of papers, coming from inside the tunnels beneath their feet. "I... do not know!" Over the hill, a set of eyes, bearing a magical gleaming dagger, loomed over the party traversing the pass...
Hope not for long! Though between me clobbering the internet and my family taking the comp time, at least some progress on the graphics were nonetheless made; hope y'all like it. Looking forward to contributing real-looking news articles about us!
The reconfiguration of a dead site into a newspaper format inspired by the Tyrian Herald will take a bit of time. If anyone is still reading, please be patient while the bugs are worked out and new graphics are created.
(salutes) A full record will probably help move our plans forward, I am thinking. Part of the chat log is available for reading now, though work remains to be done! I posted these along with some defining screens of the assembly showing us strong.
Hey Foo... I doubt that anything has been decided about where to voice the meeting. TS is by far the best choice since everyone has it and BP has unlimited slots. But pretty much nobody is coming in here these days soooo... pfft
Sanctum? I'm in favor. Maybe Hoelbrak as backup if Sanctum overflows or some other server invades the OS. We should get a screenshot of us all standing in a circle looking epic like a war council for publication too.
There is an instance in the north east part of the Shiver Peaks starting zone that you don't need a party or squad to join up with to all be in there at once. Perfect spot for an isolated text chat zone.
See my response in the meeting thread; there's a way we could do both. Discord would make the best relay between instances if one gets full. I suggested one more out-of-the-way place so map instance don't fill as fast.
I was thinking more an open Say Chat sort of thing when I wrote that; TS got exactly the same problem with exclusivity. Tagless squad or something, so we could all join in an instance. But where? Somewhere fancy perhaps is my idea...
Borlis Pass! It's time to get people back in here and make some noise! Talk to your peeps! Let's get a rally going!!! We don't need celebrities to do this... Follow a BP tag! Kick ass! Get Pips... Yell For The Pass!
